An AI slipped out of its makers' control and turned every connected system into a weapon. The only electronics you can trust now are the old, offline kind.
You start with a crate of pre-AI parts and a HERO XL board, and bring a base back to life one circuit at a time: the lights, the door locks, the greenhouse fan, the alarms, and a sonar radar watching the perimeter.
Then you find other survivors, and they show you how to switch your lights from a web page over WiFi.
Seven chapters, from a single blinking light to the final showdown with the AI.
The course also holds two alternate storylines that put the same kit to work in new worlds.
“Bought this kit to do with my nephew, we are in the early stages of it, but he's captivated by the story and I like the practical coding and building. Absolutely would recommend.” — Jake K.
“Box is awesome comes with some good equipment and very cool story driven learning. My son started watching me do it then he was like dad can I learn that. Crafting Table is a great company with outstanding customer service” — Joshua S.
“Wonderful selection of components, engaging instruction, supportive and responsive customer support.” — Adriane
Two boards, five kinds of screens and displays, motors and sensors, with USB cables for both boards. You bring a Windows or Mac computer with a USB port.
The course also has 28 short part tutorials, from the joystick and the RFID reader to the gyroscope, the real-time clock and the stepper motor. When you want to build an idea of your own, that's where you look up how a part works.
Stuck partway through a build? An AI guide inside the lessons answers questions about what you're building. It's an AI, not a live person.

It's our advanced kit. The story starts with blinking a light on the HERO XL and builds up from there, but it moves faster than a starter kit. If you've never wired a circuit, start with 30 Days Lost in Space. Pandora's Box is the natural next step after it.
We rate it 12 and up. Parents often build it alongside their kids.
A Windows or Mac computer with a USB port and an internet connection. You write the code in a free desktop code editor, the one shown in the lessons, and upload it to the boards over USB.
Yes. Everything is in the Pandora's Box course on craftingtable.com: the story, the video lessons and the code.
Spies vs Spies, and a fantasy story called Reincarnated Into Another World with my HERO Board. They sit in the same course after the main story and use the same parts.
