The Workshop — community builds
See what the CraftingTable community is building. Browse electronics projects, questions and polls, open published circuits in the simulator, and share your own builds.
- Only Take One! — The build is essentially a scale, using a load cell and a HX711 module to weigh the candy, an Adafruit RP-2040 Feather to handle logic, and a 4Ω speaker to play audio.
- The Pumpkin Squirrel Defense & Communication System — Ever had a squirrel munch on your pumpkin?
- Technomancer 2.0 — The Technomancer Robe from ThinkGeek has been my Halloween costume every year for the past nine, and every year I wonder how it could be updated - what if I could create my own spells, my own custom lights, my own sounds?
- Candy Roulette — Push the big green button.
- The Spooky Motion Alarm — The RGB led breathes purple to give a spooky ambiance and then when motion is detected starts flashing red with eerie buzzer pulses.
- Posessed Jack-in-the Box — This circuit is for my "Possessed Jack-in-the-Box" buildathon entry. When you knock on the lid, it plays "Pop Goes the Weasel" on a passive buzzer and turns the handle with a hobby motor/gearbox powered by a TA6586 motor driver chip, and uses a servo to open the lid, revealing the candy inside. Sadly, I did not have an adequate power supply to run everything at once, so the physical build does not completely work, but it works in the simulator: see https://craftingtable.com/sandbox?project=758

- Mini Arcade Cabinet — A classic upright cabinet profile: the marquee hangs over a slightly tilted OLED screen, a 12° control panel sticks out at thumb height with the joystick on the left and the jump button on the right, the high-score display sits on the roof, and raised side panels frame everything
- The Floating Spooky Ghost — My creation is a 3D-printed ghost that appears to float while holding a balloon.
- Haunted Theremin — A gothic wardrobe whose flat cornice crown holds the light sensor where a hand hovers, with a glowing orange eye above its carved double doors that brightens as the wail climbs.
- Sparky - The Relaxation — Built by Willow (age 6) using her own breadboard and components! The red light is his beating heart, the blue light means he's fed, and the little black box is his voice making a relaxed low humming sound.
- Motion Activated Pumpkin
- Light-Based Telegraph — It's a simple telegraph, but instead of an ink roller and a pen, it uses a laser and a photo resistor. I plan on making this IRL to test how far the photo resistor can detect the laser.
- Haunted House — A long black manor with a crooked witch-hat tower: the PIR looks out of the tower's round attic window, two RGB modules light the orange windows, and a bone-white gable roof floats on an arm from a servo in the right wall, so it can fling the roof up and slam it down when someone
- TICKTOCK — A truncated pyramid tower on a chamfered plinth: its vertical front face is the backdrop for a charcoal pendulum the front servo swings once per beat over a striped orange tempo scale, while the plinth front shows the BPM and the knob on the ledge below the pendulum sets the temp
- How do I delete projects?
- 8-Bit Strat — A stair-stepped pixel Stratocaster lying flat: the thick double-cutaway body holds the board, the strum target over the hidden hall sensor sits on the raised black pickguard where a pick swipes, and the keypad is the fretboard on the chunky black neck.
- Digital electronics code
- hi — A chunky black block with an orange cap. The big button sits on a raised round boss under the DING label, the chime comes out of the top, and an orange hand on the right wall's servo waves 60 to 120 degrees for every press.
- Python/MicroPython or C++/Arduino?
- The Haunted Skull — This build uses a HW-740 (AM412) PIR sensor in the teeth to detect motion. When it does, there is a DY-SV5W MP3 player that randomly plays a spooky sound through a small speaker.
- haunted house — when you walk by it flashes lights, makes scary sounds, tand the window and door open and close.
- haunted house — haunted house
- Slopagotchi — An upright cream egg on two orange booted feet: the pet's screen sits on a raised face plate where the eyes go, FEED and PLAY sit under the thumbs, the care-menu knob is at the right-hand edge, a heart-marked touch pad on the crown is where you pat its head, the light eye on the
- 3rd Sanctuary — Just plays the first jingle of 'The Third Sanctuary' by Toby Fox on repeat. Will mess up the last note occasionally, possibly a bug with the site.
- day 7 Nebula Raiders
- day 7 Nebula Raiders
- The Haunted Hat — Realistic eye movements make the hat seem alive!
- 30 days in stuck in space
- fortune teller — A rounded charcoal box on a grey plinth with a flat gauge-face front. A blue 8-ball disc sits at the pivot of a servo-driven blue pointer, and the sketch stops the pointer on one of six grey answers fanned round the half dial. The button sits right under the pivot.
- The girl on the roof — Complete Cannery Row Add a button miss, one resistor and your lamps flicker on its own and for somebody on the roof to notice first day 4
- Clap Disco — A black stage podium with an orange plinth and a cornice lip. Its flat top deck carries a gear-driven turntable that spins a cream faceted ball, and an RGB footlight in front of it strobes whenever the front mic hears a clap.
- The Cursed Jack-O'-Lantern — A game where you keep a candle alive.
- CHOMP — A round orange apple with a flat bite cut out of the front: the obstacle sensor looks out from the top of the bite, a cream toothy jaw on the servo's shaft at the bite's left corner drops open and snaps shut with a beep whenever a hand comes near, and the beeper sits behind a fla
- The Rift Ractor
- ENIGMA Rotor Cipher — A chamfered field-crate whose top carries an exposed orange rotor between two guard rails. The rotor steps one notch per encoded letter while the front panel's keypad, readout and key-setting knob sit where a seated operator's hands and eyes fall.
- THE SINGING PUMPKIN:now motion-triggered — THE 3D printed PUMPKIN: SINGING Toccata in D minor — now motion-triggered.
- Night 5: A Glow You Can Read — A chest glow on an RGB LED: green when he's fed, yellow when he's hungry, red when he's starving. I built it with real parts on Night 5 of It Lives.
- Day15_CreativeDay3 — #CreativeDay3
- Radio slop — A rounded radio cabinet on a stepped plinth with a carry handle: the grey-striped speaker grille on the left of the front holds the buzzer, and the blue-trimmed dial window sits above the tuning knob on the right, so you turn and read in one spot.
